1997 – The Ankole Mission begins
In 1997, three young couples, the Bakers, the Fouts and the Gages, teamed up with the First Colony Church of Christ in Houston, TX to embark on a mission to spread the Good News of Christ in and around Mbarara, Uganda. In 1999, the team was launched into Uganda and spent the next two years in intense language study and relationship development. During the next decade, God led them in teaching the Bible to and serving the people in the Ankole region. God also sent several additional families to partner with the original team in the work He had begun. The Lindseys, Naramores, Glissons, and Lori Earles, along with several school teachers, Terry Taylor, Stacy Guyse, Beth Tunick, Amy Howard, Desarae Smith and Betsy Glover, joined the original 3 families to further God's work among the Banyankole. In 2007, after 10 years of service, the original team members began to say their goodbyes to the beloved Christians of the 21 churches they were instrumental in starting and returned to the US.
2008 - the Huttons arrived in Mbarara to begin the second wave of missionaries serving the Banyankole people.
Theron is a physician trained in family medicine, and he attended medical school knowing that he would go straight to the mission field. We have great respect for this family who has given up "the American dream" to serve the lost and the hurting of Uganda. Theron, Sarah and their children are using their gifts and talents to work with Banyankole people to incorporate a holistic health ministry. Since 2008 Theron has focused on language and culture learning while implementing the beginning stages of the CHE strategy.

2011 – The Tuckers will join Mission Ankokle in Uganda
Will and Shawna Tucker have had a heart for missions since before they were married, they have served on the Hendersonville Church of Christ's Missions Committee, befriended many missionary families, gone on several mission trips, and have helped direct a Missions Camp for the last four summers. In January 2010, their family traveled to Africa together. While in Africa they spent ten days in Uganda. During thier stay in Mbarara, Uganda they spent time with the Huttons and the Glissons. The Glisson family has now moved back to the states after being in Uganda for almost 6 years. Will and Shawna were amazed and blessed to learn about God's work there through His devoted followers over the last 14 years.
Since Oct 2010, Will and Shawna have been preparing to move to Uganda to start their mission. They have been studying the language and learning about Uganda and the needs of the people. They will be leaving the United States to begin their adventure in April 2011
