Welcoming Children, Growing Families

From the moment children enter the nursery at First Colony, they are surrounded by people who care about them. Cradle Roll classes combine young children's interest in music and their curiosity about the world around them. Infants and toddlers become acquainted with songs about God's creation while handling manipulatives like toy frogs and ducks. Introducing children to God the Creator establishes a Biblical foundation for our youngest family members.

The preschool years are times to learn that God made us, God loves us, and Jesus wants to be our friend forever!  Whether in age-specific Bible classes or combined Praise Kids activities during worship time, our goal is to provide a Biblical background for gaining knowledge in a spiritual atmosphere for worshipping the Lord, as well as a Biblical background for gaining knowledge.

Elementary children take a systematic walk through the entire Bible in their Sunday and Wednesday Bible classes.  Each wiggly object, artistic activity, crazy game, and intriguing puzzle is chosen to enhance the children's understanding of the Word of God, reinforcing life principles that will stick.

But that's not all!  Throughout the year, special milestone events are planned to commemorate God's working in our lives, and to give children opportunities to play a significant role at First Colony.  We affirm our commitment to Christian parenting on New Life Celebration Sunday.  On Easter, all ages celebrate the resurrection of Christ together.  What would summer be without camp -- don't miss our annual Camp Bandina.  Fall Family Fest, the children's Christmas musical, community service projects, and more give us year-long opportunities to WELCOME CHILDREN and GROW FAMILIES.

THE LINK (5th & 6th Grade)

Growing out of elementary into middle school is not always easy.  Knowing that young people's transitions from children's ministry into youth ministry will determine their involvement for the rest of their middle and high school years, and even their commitment to the church throughout their lifetime, The Link incorporates our fifth and sixth grade students' Bible classes and activities into unique experiences designed just for them.

It all begins each Sunday morning as our group studies the Bible together.  On Sunday nights throughout the year we will have a variety of fun activities and service projects planned for our group. Through the summer and fall, Link students are given the opportunity to exercise their leadership with younger elementary children, and also join in carefully screened youth activities.  For more information about The Link, please contact or Nancy Penney.
