Volunteer Engagement

GO Engage, Volunteer!

Volunteering At First Colony

Volunteering at First Colony builds fellowship and strengthens your connection to our church family. Following 1 Peter 4:10, we invite you to use your unique gifts to bless others and participate in God’s work. With a variety of flexible serving opportunities, our team leaders offer guidance and training to fit your season of life. Whatever your skills, there is a place for you to grow and shine for Christ here.

Volunteer Needs

Whether you love working with kids, behind-the-scenes setup, hospitality, or administration, there’s a place for you.

Spiritual Assessment

Not sure what your gifts are? Our Spiritual Assessment helps you identify how God has wired you to serve.

YES! Serving the church is not just about filling a need but creating community and using your gifts for His glory. Each of us contributes in unique ways that honor His calling on our lives.

Our ministries have flexible volunteer roles. Opportunities range from weekly to occasional event support. You determine your commitment based on your schedule. We are thrilled to have your help.

When you sign up, it is not forever. We also like to have three or more people trained in a particular role so you can take a break or try out another area to volunteer.

Each ministry area trains, supports, and walks you through each role. We are committed to supporting you as you serve. If you work with Children or Youth, you are required to complete a background check.

Teaching any Bible classes requires membership so that we know you adhere to our beliefs, mission, vision, and values.

We welcome families to serve together. When you sign up, just ask to be scheduled together. We also have Children’s Ministry programming on Sundays, Wednesdays, and occasionally for larger events where you may serve.

Any other questions? Contact us — we’re happy to help!

Engagement Ministry

Are you someone who enjoys meeting new people and spreading the love of God to His people? If so, you might want to consider joining the Volunteer Engagement Team.

Engagers connect with people before and after services by asking open-ended questions and learning their stories. They help gather names, contact information, needs, gifts, and interests, then report back to the Director of Engagement to help individuals take meaningful next steps.

This team helps new and current members get connected to ministry teams in need. Volunteers confirm completion of a Spiritual Gifts Assessment and GO Opportunities Form, explore interests, skills, availability, and motivations, then introduce individuals to the appropriate ministry leader and follow up with helpful information.

Hospitality Hosts invite members and new attendees into smaller, welcoming gatherings such as shared meals or group dinners. This role is ideal for warm, relational people who enjoy making others feel at home and encouraging new relationships. Scheduling is based on availability and Hospitality Team needs.

The Events Team helps lead, support, and coordinate large church-wide events. Responsibilities may include food planning, entertainment, sign-ups, volunteer coordination, and ensuring proper forms and details are completed. Opportunities vary by event and schedule.
